About PUS- Puthiyathor Ulagam Seivom
Puthiyathor Ulagam Seivom (PUS) is an innovative, one-stop digital platform launched by the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Tamil Nadu in partnership with UNICEF YuWaah. Envisioned as one of the state’s largest volunteer initiatives, PUS brings citizens and young people together to champion environmental conservation, strengthen climate resilience, and work towards Tamil Nadu’s sustainable future.
It’s available in English and Tamil. PUS invites Tamil Nadu’s citizens, especially young people to explore nature stewardship opportunities across the state and progress towards environmental consciousness. Through low touch-high touch volunteering events, it encourages them to step up meaningfully – using their creativity, determination, and collective power to drive social and environmental change in their communities.
TN-PUS offers resources and training opportunities to help you develop essential green skills and LiFE skills. These skills can help you make a positive impact in your community and beyond.
Sign up as a Nature Steward ( volunteer) by providing your name, mobile number, email ID, role, district, gender, age, date of birth, city/town, and WhatsApp number. Once registered, you can explore and join events in your district and beyond.
If you’re 15–18 years old: You’ll need to provide your guardian’s mobile number to complete sign-up
If you’re 18 or above: You can register using your own mobile number.
Event Registration
Yes! We encourage friends and family to join in on the fun. You can easily share events with them by clicking on the share button for any event you’re interested in and sending it to them.
Yes! You can register for as many events as you’d like. We believe in giving you the flexibility to choose the events that work best for you.
No, there’s no registration fee to join our platform. In fact, we celebrate and reward our Nature Stewards for their efforts!
For every event you participate in, you’ll earn:
- A certificate recognizing your contribution
- Volunteering hours that add up over time
Once you reach 120 volunteering hours, you’ll level up to become a Nature Champion!
You can track your progress anytime on the Leaderboard.
Yes! We’ve added a convenient “Save” option. Simply save any event you’re interested in by clicking on the ‘ heart icon ‘ and it will be added to your Saved Events list for future reference.
Account Settings
Our platform does not require a password for sign-up. Just sign up with your mobile number or email ID. When you want to log in on the web, enter your number or email, get your OTP, and you’re in! On the app, once you’ve signed in, you’ll stay logged in, you have to log in again only if there’s an update.
Yes you can edit the login phone number and email id on the app as well as the web platform simply by going to the “My Account” option in the menu.
Just go to the home page, click on the side menu, and select “Logout” under the “ My Account “ option.
To change the language, open the app, click on the menu option on top left, and you’ll be able to see a dropdown from which you can select your preferred language-English or Tamil.
Eligibility
We welcome volunteers of all ages to join our platform and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond! However, our minimum age requirement is 15 years old.
We don’t have any strict qualifications or criteria for becoming a volunteer. We believe that everyone has something unique and valuable to offer, and we welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and skill levels.
No, everyone is welcome to join the platform regardless of experience level. You can find events that align with your interests and skills, and you don’t need any prior experience or training to get started.
A TN-PUS Nature Champion is someone who has completed more than 120 hours of volunteering on our platform. You can become a Nature Champion by completing the events you have registered for and can also create and lead your own volunteering opportunities and access exclusive rewards and recognition.
Yes! We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, including those who are employed. Volunteering can be a great way to give back to your community and make a positive impact in your free time.
Miscellaneous
Yes, it is possible to opt out of an event if you are unable to attend. However, rescheduling an event is not a possibility as a Nature Steward.
Yes! As a volunteer (Nature Steward), you’ll earn certificates for your contributions.
You can download them anytime from the “Certificates” option in the side menu. This includes both individual event certificates and a consolidated PDF certificate of all your contributions.
You can opt out of the event through the platform before the event begins.
For District Admins/ Government Depts
Yes, you can edit event details anytime before it is completed. You need to go to the Event Management tab in the menu and select Upcoming events. Under the action column you will find the edit icon which on selecting one can edit details of the event and re publish it.
Manual attendance can be taken and uploaded later as part of the completion report.
You can upload attendance sheets, photos, event posters, or any other related proof.
No approval is needed to be done from your end. Once a volunteer registers, auto approval happens and they can attend the event.
Yes, cancelled events can be restored if needed. Go to the Event Management tab in the menu, and select Cancelled Events from the dropdown. Here, you can view all cancelled events and restore any event of your choice.
If you are unable to log into your account or are facing issues on the platform. You can contact the support team through the “Support” option in the app or website. Provide your contact details and description of the issue so that the support team can assist you in accessing your account. Banners are images shown on the landing page for volunteers in each district. As a District Admin, you can upload or update them anytime. Go to Menu → Banner Management → Upload Banner, choose your image, and click Submit. The updated banner will instantly appear for all users in your district.
This feature helps you to send a message to all Nature Stewards in your district for updates like mass announcements, event cancellations, or alerts during natural calamities. To use the Broadcast Message feature go to the Steward Management tab in the menu, and from the dropdown, select Send Broadcast. Fill in all the message details and click send.
After each event, you must upload a completion document within one month. If not, your account will be restricted from creating new further events. Go to the Event Management tab in the menu and select Completed Events. Here, you can see all past events. Under the Completion Document column, click the upload icon to add your files. You can upload multiple documents and also view or download them anytime for reports or records.
To create an event, open the menu on the top left and select Event Management.From the dropdown, click Create Event and fill in all required details. Preview the information to cross-check, then click Publish. Once published, Nature Stewards will be able to view the event on their Explore page.
Only Admins, Colleges, Departments, NGOs, and Nature Champions can create events.
Once you log in, the Dashboard is the first page you’ll see. Here, you can track key data such as attendance rates, top-performing events, leading Nature Stewards in your district, performance across other districts, total volunteering hours, and event status whether upcoming, completed, or cancelled. The Dashboard gives you a quick snapshot of district activities and also allows you to download key data points for reports.
