About PUS – Puthiyathor Ulagam Seivom
Puthiyathor Ulagam Seivom (PUS) is Tamil Nadu’s climate and citizen-volunteering portal, hosted by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) in collaboration with UNICEF YuWaah. PUS connects young people, communities, institutions, and local bodies to practical, verifiable actions that prevent and control pollution cleaner air and water, responsible waste management, safer handling of plastics, e-waste and biomedical waste, and noise abatement delivering clear public-health and climate co-benefits across the State. The platform turns citizen energy into measurable outcomes aligned with TNPCB’s mandate under environmental laws and standards.
Our Purpose & Vision
Our Purpose
- To mobilise youth, citizens, and civil society organisations to actively support TNPCB’s priorities on pollution prevention and control across Tamil Nadu.
- To provide hands-on opportunities for volunteers to participate in air and water quality, waste management, noise control, and cleaner neighbourhood initiatives, while learning about relevant environmental rules, standards, and good practices.
- To enable citizens to report local pollution concerns through authorised channels, strengthening monitoring, early warning, and timely response by TNPCB.
- To build and celebrate a culture of shared responsibility for pollution reduction, by recognising individuals and institutions that demonstrate good environmental and pollution-control practices and inspire others to act.
